Marco Donati

Marco is the fifth generation of his family in Mezzocorona to work the Rotaliano vineyard, home of Trentino’s signature Teroldego grape. He is the cellar and export manager, his wife Emanuela manages the vineyards. They have expanded their properties into many small sites in a wide radius around Mezzocorona, where they’ve identified the perfect grape for the location and planted it!

The Donati wines are characterized by soft tannins, good structure, beautiful fruit and balanced acidity. All are excellent with food. Tightly controlled vineyard practice  maintains the integrity of the soil and the vines.
“Good wine is born in the vineyard.”

MARCO DONATI TRENTINO Mezzocorona
Kerner So aromatic! Great acidity, wonderful dry palate feel; weight! Lovely for summer; and thinking of summer all year long
Nosiola The name comes from the word for hazelnut, which comes through in the aroma and on the finish. A lovely change for winter veggies and summer dishes
Pinot Grigio “Ramato” 7 days skin contact, very aromatic, bone dry, flavors of toasted almonds, burnt sugar but balanced with acidity; goes with Sushi and shellfish generally
Sylvaner Winter white; very aromatic; lush, plush palate, rich flavors, very dry finish
Lagrein Rubino Intense aroma, acidity and flavor, hard to describe but very happy with herb based BBQ –leg of lamb with rosemary or pork shoulder?
Marzemino “Orme” “Eccellente Marzimino” says Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Act II, Scene V; I agree! Likes smoky, cured meats and they like this wine
Pinot Nero “Centa” A true Pinot Nero – you know what you’re drinking; you know where it comes from;  you want another glass; lovely; no oak
Situla Rosso Blend of Teroldego, Lagrein and Marzimino – big taste of Trentino – very food friendly; subtle well integrated tannin
Teroldego Rotaliano
“Marco Donati”
Lighter style; great introduction to the variety; hints of violets & raspberry on the nose; dry, balanced, fruit and acidity, soft tannin.
Teroldego Rotaliano
“Sangue di Drago”
“Dragon’s Blood,” 100% Teroldego Riserva; medium body but powerful; rich, dark berry flavors; soft tannins; lingering finish
